François Bellabas — about
bio
François Bellabas
lives and works in Paris, France
A graduate of the École nationale supérieure de la photographie (ENSP), Arles, François Bellabas works with the expanded photographic medium to question what seeing means when machines also perceive. He creates installations and hybrid environments where images no longer fix anything: they circulate, accumulate, feed on one another. His works place the viewer on the threshold, where the image, having become data, keeps transforming. They explore what humans, living organisms and synthetic organisms weave together, the languages they invent, what emerges between them.
Bellabas is the winner of the CNAP commission “Réinventer la photographie” (2025) and of the Discovery Award, Louis Roederer Foundation, at the Rencontres d’Arles (2024).
He has shown his work in France and internationally, notably at Palais Augmenté 2 (Grand Palais, Paris, 2022), the Centre Photographique d’Île-de-France (2024), the Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival, Xiamen (2024), Contretype, Brussels (2025), the Incheon Art Platform, South Korea (Interrogative AI, 2025–2026), the Guangzhou Image Triennial (NEO-ANALOG, GDMOA, 2025–2026) and Bozar, Brussels (Picture Perfect, 2026).
